The Air Transport Users Council
The Air Transport Users Council (AUC) is the UK's consumer council for air travellers. It receives its funding from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), as an Auxiliary Group within the CAA corporate structure. It comprises a council of volunteer consumer representatives, supported by a salaried secretariat. Its purpose and functions are set out in its Terms of Reference.

This site provides a wealth of information for consumers and businesses, schools, advice and information centres, community organisations, local councils, business support agencies and trade associations.

ATOL
ATOL is the Government’s licensing and bonding scheme for tour operators selling holiday packages that include flights, and flight specialists selling charter and discounted scheduled airline tickets.

If a firm fails, CAA will protect customers overseas and provide a full refund to those unable to travel. Scheme also ensures tour operators protect customers if an airline fails.

Association of British Travel Agents
ABTA is the UK’s main travel trade association. Member tour operators selling holiday packages that do not include flights can either be bonded with ABTA, or with another body like AiTO. Some accommodation only arrangements may also be protected.
